The Stingrays
 

 

Welcome to the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA Stingray Website!  The content on this site is is designed to give team members and parents and introduction to the Stingray swim team.

 

Our swim teams serves the spirit of competition, keep physically fit, and fellowship of the team.  We strive to provide each swimmer the opportunity to grow socially, emotionally, and physically while participating in the team-individual activities we offer.

 

Mary Jannides (Black Team Coach)

 

Mary Jannides has been with the Sidney Shelby Co. YMCA Swim Team since it's inception in 1974.  The team was originally named the Aquarians.  Mary has trained several nationally ranked swimmers over her carrer and continues to produce swimmers that compete in the YMCA National Championships as well as OHSAA state meets.

 

Mary is one of the most highly respected coaches in both the Southwest Cluster YMCA league of swim teams and the Greater Western Ohio Conference of high school swim teams.

 

In 2002, Mary was inducted into the Southwest Cluster League Hall of Fame.

 

Chad McClain (Gold / White Team Coach)

 

An age group swimmer from the age of 9, under the tutilege of Mary Jannides, Chad achieved success throughout the region for the YMCA and Sidney High School.  His passion for stroke perfection and core balance, is at the heart of what he teaches young swimmers.  Chad brings with him personal experience in and out of the water, and will be guiding our White and Gold teams to success in the coming season.

 

Lee Huskey (Black / Gold Coach)

In 1973 Huskey started swimming with the Circleville Swim Team as a 9 year old.  He continued to swim though high school, competing in AAU ( Amateur Athletic Union ), USAS ( USA Swimming), and YMCA meets.  He competed at YMCA Nationals in butterfly, breast stroke, and individual medley events.  He currently officiates at local YMCA and high school swim meets.  As a volunteer coach with the Stingrays, he emphasizes stroke technique and mechanics.
